SiDBTools

• Set SQL-User rights

  Will restore the standard configuration, user settings and user rights required for a SIDEXIS XG SQL Server 2005 database.
  

• Attach DB

  Binds a selected SIDEXIS XG SQL Server 2005 database to an MS SQL Server instance.
  The tool can be used for named as well as unnamed instances of SQL Server 2005/2008.
  

• Attach empty DB

  Binds a blank SIDEXIS XG SQL Server 2005 database to a MS SQL Server instance.
  The tool can be used for named, as well as unnamed instances of SQL Server 2005/2008.
  

• Rename Server

  Will redefine a SQL Server 2005/2008 instance of a SIDEXIS XG >= 1.6. database, after change of the server name.
  Additionally, the new server name is registered in Setup.ini, and a installed NGSQLBackUp is executed in order to update the BackUp settings.
  

• Update ODBC Config

  Serves for the rapid adaptation of an SIDEXIS XG data source to access a SIDEXIS XG SQL 2005 database after the SQL database location has changed.
  The tool can only be used with an existing SIDEXIS XG data source.
  

• Detach DB

  Separates a selected database from the SQL Server.
  

• Stop instance

  Stops a selected instance of SQL Server.
  

• Restart instance

  Restarts a selected instance of SQL Server.
  

• DB BackUp

  Creates a backup of the selected database.
  

• DB Restore

  Restores a backup to the selected database.
  

• Always start with default settings.
• Creation of log files for each action is disabled.

The default settings can be modified as described below.

Utilization

• Set SQL-User rights

  Application scenario: Database access problems due to missing or corrupt database user or user configuration.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance, databasename and click <Start>.
  Upon successful configuration the QuickLog window will show the following message: Changed database context to 'Selected DB Name'.
  

• Attach DB

  Application scenario: Database replication or relocation of an existing database using the database files (PDATASQL.mdf and PDATASQL.ldf).
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance, database name, SQL-databasefile and click <Start>.
  Upon successful connection the QuickLog window will show the following message: Changed database context to 'Selected DB Name'.
  

• Attach empty DB

  Application scenario: Connecting an empty Database to an existing SQL server for a new installation of SIDEXIS XG.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance, database name, storage location and click <Start>.
  Upon successful connection the QuickLog window will show the following message: Changed database context to 'Selected DB name'.
  

• Rename Server

  Application scenario: Reconfiguration of an SQL server after the host name of the server has changed.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance and click <Start>.
  Upon successful configuration the QuickLog window will show the following message: Changed SQL Server name to 'New Server name'.
  

• Update ODBC Config

  Application scenario: Update the ODBC configuration of SIDEXIS workstations after the SQL server or the SQL server name has changed.
  Execution: Simply select ODBC data source, SQL server and click <Start>.
  Upon successful configuration the QuickLog window will show the following message: Data source 'Selected Source' adapted.
  

• Detach DB

  Application scenario: Detaching the database for a database move or a DB replication.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance, database name and click <Start>.
  Upon successful detach the QuickLog window will show the following message: Changed database context to 'master'.
  

• Stop instance

  Application scenario: Taking the database off for maintenance jobs.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance and click <Start>.
  Upon successful execution the QuickLog window will show the following message: 'Selected instance' stopped.
  

• Restart instance

  Application scenario: Instance is stopped, paused or not responding in the normal way.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance and click <Start>.
  Upon successful restart the QuickLog window will show the following message: Changed server state to 'online'.
  

• DB BackUp

  Application scenario: Creating a backup prior to maintenance jobs or a backup for a database move.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance, database name, location for the SQL backup file and click <Start>.
  Upon successful BackUp the QuickLog window will show notes about the BackUp process.
  

• DB Restore

  Application scenario: Restoring a backup after a server crash.
  Execution: Simply select SQL server instance, database name and backup file. In the file selection dialog switch the file type to: BackUp files (*. bak) to select the backup file and click <Start>.
  Upon successful restore the QuickLog window will show notes about the restore process and at the end the message: Changed database context to 'Selected DB name'.
   

Configuration

Displays the current SIDEXIS XG configuration.

Settings:

• Enable/disable start with default settings.
• Enable/disable creation of log files for each action.
